This Mentor Set will help you improve your ward staff's customer care and team-working skills on the job. It includes a Mentor Guide, six A4 posters and five of each of the seven Individual Learners’ Booklets.
The Learners' Booklets can also be purchased individually in packs of 10 or as part of the Learners' Set (five of each of the seven booklets).
Developed at an NHS acute foundation trust, Improving Ward Communication enables ward staff to improve their customer care and team-working skills on the job. No staff release is needed.
Improving Ward Communication supports flexible, mentor-led learning for the whole ward team.The learning takes place during normal work activity. It has the potential to improve performance immediately, as staff grow in confidence and ability. No special expertise is needed to use the resource, which is suitable for both UK and overseas staff. (Language development activities are included for overseas staff.)

• Helping patients at mealtimes
• Patient observations
• Handover
• Answering the ward phone
• Working with relatives
• Welcoming visitors
• Everyday English for bodily functions and feelings (explains everyday English expressions to overseas staff).
