About This Publication
This project summary report provides a summary of the project findings and presents a
number of recommendations that are primarily intended for: policy-makers, decision-makers,
managers and practitioners across the learning and skills sector, but are also of
relevance to those working in the social care sector.
The purpose of this paper is to raise awareness of the needs and experiences of young
adult carers, aged 16–25, by providing an analysis of the issues they experience and the
impact that these issues have upon their access to, and participation in, education and
training. This report also includes a series of specific recommendations which we think, if
implemented, would improve young adult carers’ experiences of learning.
